Using Hangouts Plus as a replacement for landline phone
Hi,
I was very frustrated with using Google Hangouts as a phone on my Mac. I was hoping that Hangouts plus would be the solution I needed. But it does not seem to work as I expected. I suspect I have configuration problem, but I don't see any options that help me get this working as I expected. Can you help?
Ken

Hi,
The App Store Sandbox policy was prevent Phone Call functionality in Hangouts Plus app. We have non Mac App Store version which support Phone Call, please send us your Purchase receipt and your Mac UUID, we will send you a new version.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Attached is my reciept.
My Mac UUID is: DC227DED-C0B0-5D08-BE89-EC33EB893813
I used to use Google voice just as a replacement for a phone. Then Google
put that into hangouts and it got complicated and did not work very well.
I'm hoping to find something that will be a nice simple application to make
and receive phone calls. I hope that is what your new version will do.
Thanks,
Ken

Both of these versions simply open a window that is blank except for a grey
"No Conversation Selected". Nothing to click on at all.

can you try: Click on top menubar -> Hangout Plus -> logout and login again.

Ok, I did the logout and then Login. It looked like it was going to work.
I clicked on the phone icon. I entered a phone number and tried to make a
call. It says "Hangouts needs the Google Talk plugin to make calls". I
had already installed that plug-in but did it again anyway. It
successfully installed. But it still keeps saying Hangouts needs the
plug-in.

I closed the app and opened it again. It no longer asks for the plug-in.
I made a voice call, but it does not recognise my Logitech wireless headset
and instead plays the voice over my speakers (plugged into the speaker
port, not USB). How do I tell it to use the headset.

Nevermind about the headset. I got it working. I had to unplug the
Logitech usb adapter and plug it back in.
